Sarah Pruitt, MSW, LCSW
Hi, I’m Sarah (she/her), a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and a Therapeutic Game Master. Beyond my professional life, I’m a wife, a cat mom, an avid gamer, a Disney lover, and a proud geek.
I’ve always been drawn to helping people through life’s challenges, and my own experiences with hardships fueled my passion to create a space where individuals can process their struggles and build meaningful skills in a unique way. While I use modalities like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Brainspotting, and Problem-Solving Therapy (PST), I also incorporate geek culture and therapeutic gaming into my work. My approach embraces creativity and unconventional methods to connect with clients who may not feel engaged by traditional therapy.
I believe in building a safe, inclusive environment where individuals can explore, reflect, and grow. Whether working with children, teens, or adults, I take a collaborative approach, offering semi-unconventional methods like therapeutic gaming to help clients engage in self-reflection and skill-building. I love seeing the moment when a client gains a new perspective through something unexpected. Whether it’s through gaming or play therapy, watching clients connect the dots in a way they hadn’t before is incredibly rewarding.
I am continually expanding my knowledge in both traditional therapeutic methods and creative approaches like therapeutic gaming. This balance allows me to adapt my practice to meet the evolving needs of my clients. One of my proudest achievements is integrating geek culture into therapy. By blending therapeutic modalities with gaming and anime, I’ve helped create a community where people can proudly embrace their geek identities while addressing trauma, anxiety, and depression.
Most people are surprised to learn that playing Dungeons & Dragons helped me find my voice and redefine my self-worth. I’ve used gaming to create balance in my own life, and it’s become a cornerstone of my therapeutic approach. My background in social work has given me a strong foundation in understanding trauma, anxiety, and depression, while my continued focus on creative therapeutic approaches allows me to offer clients a unique and personalized path to healing.
I believe that creating a safe, community-based environment where clients can explore their identities and embrace their passions is key to successful outcomes. By integrating geek culture and therapeutic modalities, I strive to make therapy accessible and engaging for every client. I aim to create an inclusive, welcoming space for individuals from all backgrounds, and I am always seeking new ways to connect with diverse patient populations, especially those who may feel out of place in traditional settings.
